Synopsis

BIBLE PASSAGE: MARK 10: 17 – 22, LUKE 18: 18 – 27, MATTHEW 19: 16-30

STORY TIME

Hello Children,  

Would you like to hear a story about a boy called Aden who is about the same age as you all? 

Aden was busy playing games on his tech gadget at 9 PM

    

Aden’s mom: “Aden! It is 9 ’O clock and it’s time for our family prayer leave your gadget and join us” 

(However, Aden kept asking “Mom two minutes more” and continued playing his video game!)

Aden’s mom: ‘’Don’t you know that we have our family prayer at this time every night? Set aside everything and join us for the prayer!”

Aden: ”Mom! I already prayed and memorised the Bible verse too. Why should I pray again and again? I would like to play for few more minutes. I can’t come now!”

Aden’s mom:  ‘’Son! When you do something wrong, you deserve to be punished isn’t it? For all the wrong things you do, but Jesus has taken OUR punishment by dying on the cross; he did that only because He loves us so much!  

Won’t you spend time in knowing and talking to God who has created, loves and cares for you very much? He has given his only son to die on the cross for our sins.    

Narrator: Aden then realised that he was not giving enough importance to the God who created him; The God who has sent his one and only son (Jesus Christ) to die on the cross for each of our sins.

Aden then put down his gadget, smiled at his mother and said, “I have not given importance to God. From now on, I will come for the family prayer every night”

Dear Children,                                                                                                                       

Jesus tells us in the Bible in Mathew 22:37, “You shall love your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind’’ (NKJ)

Few ways in which you can show that you love JESUS with all your heart:

• Read God’s word (The Bible) every day. If you cannot read on your own, please ask your parents to read it for you. God speaks to us through his word. 

Only when we read the bible, we can understand God who has created us – We will know what God likes and doesn’t like, what is right and what is wrong.

• Every day, pray to God and ask God to help you to obey his words! We cannot do it only with our effort. Pray and ask God to help you to

• Understand His word

• Obey your parents

• Be responsible in doing the work you have been asked to do

• Help those in need

• Be gentle and kind to others

• If you do something wrong, feel sorry about it, say sorry to God and stop committing the same mistake again! God has already taken the punishment for our mistakes by dying on the Cross. He can forgive us and give us another chance.

Conclusion:

As we learnt from today’s Bible story (the Rich young Ruler), we must show our whole hearted love to God by giving importance to him in our daily lives. We cannot do what God wants us to do with our own strength. We should pray and ask God to help us every day in everything we think, say and do! 

Prayer:

Our loving heavenly father,

We thank you for teaching us today how to love you with all our heart. Help us to love you 

And depend on you more and more every day in everything we do. Lead us and guide us

 in your ways and I pray this prayer in the name of Jesus, Amen!
