DAY 8: THE TRAIL OF FULL FAITH GOD GLORIFIES

VBS General Session - Day 8

College Lesson-8

Synopsis

The Trail of Full Faith

God Glorifies

Do you remember that Jesus had a special team of 12 people called disciples? Jesus before going to heaven asked his disciples to add more people to their team. These 12 people were quite busy after Jesus went back to heaven! They were busy telling people all about Jesus and helping to get more and more people in Jesus’s team!

One day, some people started to complain because there were many jobs that weren’t getting done. There were many women who were not getting the food they needed every day. The people went to the 12 disciples, but the disciples did not have time to listen to their problems. They didn’t have time to make sure that everyone good food! What will the disciples do now?

They decided to appoint some people who would serve God by helping to provide food for all! They gathered everyone together, and then they appointed 7 men to do this job. They prayed for these seven men and then gave these seven men the job of helping people by providing them food.

One out of the seven men was Stephen.  Stephen was a good man. Jesus allowed him to do miracles. Stephen healed sick and hurt people in the name of Jesus. Stephen prayed, too. Stephen read the Bible. Stephen helped in giving food to hungry people. Stephen could talk to anyone about Jesus.

Some people got angry when Stephen told them the truth about Jesus. Stephen told the truth about Jesus even though the people didn’t want to hear. Nothing could stop Stephen from telling other people about Jesus.

Men who did not like Jesus started arguing with Stephen but Stephen answered all their questions correctly with the help of Jesus. The men got very angry. They took Stephen away and put him to death. Even while dying Stephen asked Jesus to forgive these men.

What did we learn about Stephen?

Stephen was a very good man and he loved Jesus wholeheartedly. He was serving people and talking to them about Jesus. He was very caring and kind and he was slowly turning like Jesus. He was not afraid of death and he asked Jesus to forgive the men who tried to kill him just like Jesus did before his death.

What did we learn about God?

God was happy and proud of Stephen and he welcomed Stephen to heaven. He glorified Stephen for his faith.

Application in our life

God is happy when we really care for needy but we should do it wholeheartedly. We should not do anything for show-off or for getting publicity. For example: we want to help the people in need, we should do it without publicising it. We should not take picture of we helping people and put it in Facebook. We should always do things to make God happy and he will glorify us for our work.
