There is but one living and true God, everlasting, without body or parts, of infinite wisdom and goodness; the maker and preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. When we say the Apostles' Creed, we join with millions of Christians through the ages in an understanding of God as a Trinity—three persons in one: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons. "God in three persons, blessed Trinity" is one way of speaking about the several ways we experience God.

The Son, who is the word of the Father, the very and eternal God, of one substance with the father, took man’s nature in the womb of the blessed Virgin; so that two whole and perfect natures, that is to say, the Godhead and Manhood, were joined together in one person, never to be divided; of which is one Christ, very God and very Man, who truly suffered, was crucified, dead and buried, to reconcile his father to us and to be a sacrifice, not only for original guilt, but also for the actual sins of men. Christ did truly rise again from the dead, and took again his body, with all things appertaining to the perfection of man’s nature. Then he ascended into heavens and there sits at the right hand of God until he returns to judge all men at the last day.

The Holy Spirit, proceeding from the Father and the Son is of one substance, majesty and glory with the Father and the Son, very and eternal God. The Holy Spirit is God's present activity in our midst. When we sense God's leading, God's challenge, or God's support or comfort, we say that it's the Holy Spirit at work.

The Bible is sacred canon for Christian people, formally acknowledged as such by historic ecumenical councils of the church. Our doctrinal standards identify as canonical thirty-nine books of the Old Testament and the twenty-seven books of the New Testament. Our standards affirm the Bible as the source of all that is “necessary” and “sufficient” unto salvation (Articles of Religion) and “is to be received through the Holy Spirit as the true rule and guide for faith and practice” (Confession of Faith).

The visible church of Christ is a congregation of faithful men and women in which the pure word of God is preached, and the Sacraments duly administered according to Christ’s ordinance in all those things of necessity are requisite to the same.

We are accounted righteous before God only for the merits of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, by faith and not by our own works or deserving. We are justified by faith which is the most wholesome doctrine and very full of comfort.

Although Good works, which are the fruit of faith and follow after justification, cannot put away our sins and endure the severity of God’s judgement; yet they are pleasing and acceptable to God in Christ and spring out of a true and lively faith, insomuch that by them a lively faith may be as evidently know as a tree is discerned by its fruit.

The Methodist Church recognizes two sacraments in which Christ himself participated: baptism and the Lord's Supper.

• Baptism: Baptism is not only a sign of profession and mark of difference where Christians are distinguished from others that are not baptized. It is also a sign of new birth. Baptism marks the beginning of our lifelong journey as disciples of Jesus Christ. Through baptism, we are joined with the Triune God, the whole of Christ’s church, and our local congregation.The water and the work of the Holy Spirit in baptism convey God’s saving grace, the forgiveness of our sins, and new life in Jesus Christ. Persons of any age may be baptized—infants, children, youth, and adults. The Methodists baptize in a variety of ways—immersion, pouring, or sprinkling. A person receives the sacrament of baptism only once in his or her life.
• Lord’s Supper: The Lord’s Supper is another name for the Eucharist, the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving the church offers to God for all God has done, is doing, and will do to save us and renew all things in Christ. Through offering ourselves in praise and thanksgiving, and through receiving the bread and cup—which the Spirit makes for us the body and blood of Christ—celebrating the Lord’s Supper together nourishes and sustains us in our journey as disciples of Jesus Christ. As we pray together and receive the body and blood of Christ together, we are united with Christ, with one another, and in ministry to all the world. All who love Christ, earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another are invited to join us in offering our prayer of thanksgiving and receive the body and blood of Christ—regardless of age or church membership.
