Introduction

1.      As the name suggests, the role of the committee is concern for the church members and their respective problems. The scope covers health issues, filial issues, financial issues etc amongst the salient responsibilities. The financial assistance for church members is with this committee, but the Poor Fund attends to the non-members.

2.      In most cases it has acted as the liaison between the members and the PC conveying problems of church members who approach the committee for assistance. This is not to say that other wings like WSCS, MMF and others are not approached.

Role of the committee in church activities

1.      The committee is totally dependent on the church for financial assistance and in the event of constraints the poverty is shared. However, the severity of the issue has always been weighed in accordance to the help meted out.

2.      In moments of financial constraints, the committee has often sought assistance directly from willing church members to alleviate individual issues.

3.      Several church members have issues other than financial. The committee looks to guidance from the PC for suitable solutions.

4.      Money has been earmarked for needy church members needing funding for education.

Senior citizens fellowship

1.      This is perhaps the only visible activity the the committee conducts. The activities include the following.

(a)   Regular monthly fellowship. We must commend several church members who have come forward to conduct the programs, thus adding variety.

(b)   Annual Retreat. Full day event for the seniors

(c)    Senior Citizens Sunday. The entire service is conducted by the elders.

(d)   Visits to Senior Citizens home close to Christmas. The group has been particular about the needs of The Little Drops Home For The Destitute and has helped garner funds for several requirements of the home. Non Christians were also approached to help and the response was quite positive.
